Carriage House ~

Victorian, B&B, Bar Harbour, Main, Acadia National Park, Arcadia National Park

The first floor of this building, located immediately behind the main house, housed the family's carriage. The second floor provided quarters for the driver. By the middle of the 20th century both floors had been converted to apartments.

In the 1990s the kitchens were removed and each floor of the Carriage House was converted to a 2-bedroom B&B-style suite, each with direct entry from the outside. The first floor is the Echo Lake Suite; the second floor is the Eagle Lake Suite. Guests have reserved parking immediately adjacent to their entry.

Each suite provides two bedrooms - one king, the other a queen - a sitting room, and a full modern bath. The rooms are decorated in the same style as the rooms in the main house: same furniture, carpeting, linens. Guests staying in the Carriage House come to the main house for breakfast and afternoon refreshments along with other Graycote Inn guests.

The Carriage House suites provide ideal B&B-style accommodations for:

  • Couples desiring separate bedrooms
  • A couple desiring an extra degree of privacy - honeymooners for example
  • Families with children
  • Multi-generational groups
  • Two couples travelling together
  • Travellers for whom TV is a necessity (TV is not available in the main house)

If you think a Carriage House suite will meet your needs we encourage you to call and talk with the innkeepers.
